Lead Teacher Job Description (2026–2027)

Overview:


We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Virtual Elementary School Lead Teacher to join our team. Lead Teachers will specialize in either English Language Arts (ELA) or Math, and collaborate closely with a Secondary Teacher, who will lead instruction in Science or Social Studies. Both teachers will share responsibility for delivering Art and Gym sessions. This co-teaching model supports a rich, integrated educational experience for students in a virtual setting.


Responsibilities


1. Subject-Specific Instruction:

  1. Lead instruction in English Language Arts or Math for assigned grade levels.
  2. Collaborate with the Other Subject Teacher who will be responsible for instruction in Science or Social Studies.
  3. Co-plan and co-teach Art and Gym sessions weekly.
  4. Conduct live, engaging virtual classes using CLASS Live and support student participation.
  5. Integrate an Islamic perspective where appropriate in lesson content.


2. Curriculum and Lesson Planning:

  1. Work with curriculum developers to create standards-aligned and developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  2. Customize instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners across content areas.


3. Assessment and Student Progress:

  1. Develop assessments aligned to taught content (ELA or Math).
  2. Collaborate with the other Subject Teacher to track and report holistic student progress.
  3. Provide timely and individualized feedback to students.


4. Student Support and Engagement:

  1. Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured virtual classroom.
  2. Address student questions and academic challenges promptly.
  3. Engage with parents/guardians to support academic growth and behavior management.


5. Professional Collaboration and Development:

  1. Participate in planning meetings with the Subject Teacher and the academic team.
  2. Attend training and professional development opportunities related to online instruction and cross-disciplinary teaching.
  3. Reflect on teaching practices and engage in continuous improvement.


Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  2. Certification in Elementary Education (state license if applicable).
  3. Experience teaching ELA or Math in elementary grades.
  4. Familiarity with virtual teaching tools and platforms (Canvas LMS, Quizzes, Kahoot, AristotleK12, etc.).
  5. Strong teamwork, communication, and digital classroom management skills.
  6. Portfolio of experience preferred
