Bayaan Academy’s Academic Counseling is focused on delivering a comprehensive program

that encompasses advising students about school course work; encouraging self-discovery through signing up for varied electives, after-school online clubs, onsite field trips; individualized student planning, and post-high school transition. School Counselors partner with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and navigate student educational plans that prepare them to graduate on time as globally competitive citizens ready for college, careers, and life. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Review of Incoming Students:
  2. Review academic records of new incoming high school students in grades 10-12
  3. Liaise with admissions department regarding new students
  4. Academic Planning and Guidance:
  5. Provide one-on-one academic counseling sessions to address academic concerns, personal development, and career goals.
  6. Collaborate with students to develop personalized academic plans, considering their strengths, interests, and career aspirations.
  7. Guide students in course selection, ensuring alignment with their academic and career goals while incorporating Islamic studies.
  8. College and Career Counseling:
  9. Provide guidance on post-high school education and career options, emphasizing the importance of aligning choices with Islamic principles.
  10. Assist students in researching and applying to colleges, scholarship programs, and vocational training.
  11. Parental Collaboration:
  12. Maintain open communication with parents to discuss student progress, address concerns, and provide guidance on how they can support their child’s academic and personal development.
  13. Student Advocacy:
  14. Advocate for students when necessary, collaborating with teachers and administrators to address individual needs and challenges.
  15. Professional Development:
  16. Stay updated on educational trends, counseling techniques, and resources related to high school academic counseling.
  17. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance counseling skills.
  18. Documentation and Reporting:
  19. Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress.
  20. Prepare reports for school administration and parents regarding the effectiveness of counseling programs.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in School Counseling or a related field.
  2. Relevant experience in academic counseling, preferably in a high school setting.
  3. Knowledge of Islamic values and their integration into academic counseling practices.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  6. Familiarity with educational resources, college admission processes, and career development.
