Teacher Job Description (2026–2027)

Overview:


Bayaan Academy is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Elementary Teacher to work alongside an Elementary Lead Teacher in a co-teaching model. The Teacher will take the instructional lead in the subjects of Science or Social Studies, while also co-teaching Art and Gym. This partnership ensures a dynamic and interdisciplinary virtual learning experience rooted in academic excellence and Islamic values.


Responsibilities

1. Subject-Specific Instruction:

  1. Deliver engaging instruction in Science or Social Studies for assigned elementary grades.
  2. Collaborate with the Lead Teacher who will teach English Language Arts or Math.
  3. Co-plan and co-teach Art and Gym sessions with the Lead Teacher.
  4. Infuse content with relevant Islamic perspectives and values where applicable.


2. Instructional Planning & Collaboration:

  1. Coordinate lesson planning with the Lead Teacher to ensure interdisciplinary connections.
  2. Develop and adapt engaging, age-appropriate virtual learning experiences.
  3. Select effective digital tools and activities to support student learning.


3. Assessment and Feedback:

  1. Create and administer subject-specific assessments (Science or Social Studies).
  2. Collaborate on shared assessments for Art and Gym.
  3. Track student progress and communicate feedback clearly and constructively.


4. Student Engagement and Support:

  1. Foster an inclusive, respectful, and engaging virtual classroom culture.
  2. Actively support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
  3. Communicate with parents/families and school staff to support student success.


5. Professional Growth:

  1. Engage in ongoing training related to online instruction and virtual classroom tools.
  2. Participate in weekly planning sessions with the Lead Teacher and school leadership.
  3. Reflect on teaching practices and participate in professional development opportunities.


Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  2. Certification in a relevant content area (Science or Social Studies).
  3. Experience teaching in online or blended learning environments preferred.
  4. Proficient with online platforms and tools including Canvas LMS, Quizzes, Kahoot, and AristotleK12.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a co-teacher.
  6. Portfolio of experience preferred
